Years ago, I stumbled, so to speak, upon this meme at the much-missed StumbleUpon site:

It’s a good quote and a lovely photo. It draws a distinct line between those who are worth engaging with, and those who are toxic. I shared it many times over the years. Along the way, a couple of people noted that it was a great quote, though not from Baldwin; no one seemed to know the original author. Only recently did I figure out who actually said it, and probably why it was attributed to Baldwin. And it does sound like something he’d say. But he didn’t. Robert Jones Jr. did. So, for proper sharing:
