On the Hunter Biden pardon and the course of law and order

Ok, here’s my take on this.
There are two parts to this pardon: the father-son part, and the justice part. The father-son part is the least of these. The justice part is why this matters, and why pardoning Hunter Biden is the right thing to do.
The son fucked up. He broke the law, fucked up his taxes. He was rightly charged, and rightly asked to make good on the taxes, and be held accountable on the gun charge. But that’s not why he was hit with harsher penalties than the vast majority who face the same charges, and definitely not why he was hauled before Congress, or had his name dragged through the media.
Nope, that was all about targeting Joe Biden, whether in his campaigns, or his reputation, or his focus.
And that is not what the justice system, or Congressional hearings, or for that matter the press are for. The president extending a pardon to his son puts the brakes on the misuse of the Justice and Congressional institutions. He’s putting his foot down: knock it off, move on, this bullshit is over.
So I feel good about that pardon. What I want now is for him to extend that grace to other people facing harsher penalties than is just, and to people who’ve been misused by the Justice system. There are far too many folks who are in prison to prove someone’s point. That’s a misuse of the Justie system in my book and the President could do something about that.
